As motor technology continues to advance and demand for highly skilled mechanics grows along with it, the automotive repair industry faces a major skills shortage crisis. To ensure an international workforce cultivates the skills needed to address increasing advances in the automotive industry, quality vocational programs are essential to providing career-focused learning.

AutoRaise works to foster and promote future industry talent by offering training, mentoring, and support through an apprenticeship program, connecting learners between 13 and 24 years old to sponsor employers through practical bodyshop experience. By presenting vehicle repair as an attractive, expert profession, AutoRaise hopes to motivate and encourage young people’s interest in the industry, and provide a practical alternative to other employment or further education.

DeVilbiss Automotive Refinishing, a division of Carlisle Fluid Technologies, is delighted to join AutoRaise as a Platinum Partner in support of the growth of the repair industry, to advocate cooperatively for apprenticeships and training.

DeVilbiss understands the importance of apprenticeships towards developing highly skilled workers who are passionate about progressing the industry. Here at Carlisle Fluid Technologies, we employ current apprentices in various areas of the business, including Engineering, Production, Quality, and Research & Development. Within the Carlisle Fluid Technologies Bournemouth site, 20 people who once began as apprentices now work as full-time employees, many in senior management positions.

Adam Janes, a Production Manager who began with CFT as an apprentice in 2006, recounts the value of his experience.

“My apprenticeship has given me a job for life, allowing me to earn both qualifications and skills. Apprenticeships offer the opportunity to gain manual, real-world experience, develop a strong work ethic, and learn from people who have been in the industry for years. Colleges often don’t have the capacity to teach everything that you can learn during an apprenticeship. You can’t buy experience.”

Apprenticeships such as AutoRaise’s Multi-skilled, Mechanical Electrical Trim, Panel Technician, and Paint Technician programs provide crucial hands-on experience and teach valuable skills for young people to start building successful careers.

Tarek Husain, Marketing Manager EMEI, offered his perspective on the AutoRaise partnership.

“Having witnessed the tremendous work carried out by Bob and the AutoRaise team, we are very excited to join them as Platinum Partners in support of this worthy cause. The Vehicle Repair industry offers such a wide variety of unique and progressive career opportunities and all of us at DeVilbiss Automotive Refinishing share a passion for highlighting the work and talent of skilled spray painters around the world. Along with AutoRaise, we believe it’s time to shine a light on all this industry has to offer, and strive to encourage, support and grow new industry talent for the future.”

DeVilbiss looks forward to our collaboration and the further cultivation of industry skills going forward with AutoRaise.
